6. "... incorrect dewatering information." (Landers; June 14, 2001)
DMG Response -The applicant has clarified [he rate of expected pit inflows expected during
dewatering. It is reasonable [o expect that pit inflows will vary from 20 to 30 gallons per minute
up to 200 gallons per minute. However, in a worst case scenario where un underground channel
may be encountered, pit inflows of several cubic feet per second may occur. The applicant has
verified the feasiblity of being able to pump and manage pit inflows even during a worst case
scenario. Also, please see the DMG Response to Items 1 and 3 above.
7. "In the event of a 100-year or even a 50-year flood, I will be "affected" by contamination of
[he river, contamination of my private water well, and destruction of my recreational pleasures
downstream from the potential disaster. Loss of recreational fishing downstream caused by pit
capture and river contamination especially capture of the silt ponds as could happen in a 100-year
flood." (Landers, Van Norstrand; June 14, 2001)
DMG Response -Please see DMG Response to Item 2 above. The applicant has committed to
no excavation within the "floodways" of either Trout Creek or the Yampa River.
8. "I object to application approval of the mine site and its use of fuel, oil, and other
contaminants [ha[ may enter the water table from which my water supply may come. The
applicant cannot ensure adequate protection of ground water quality within the affected land and
surrounding area in the event of leaking trucks or unintentional spill of contaminants being used
at the site. Water well contamination as is possible by removing water from the ground and
introducing chemicals used for dust control, fuels, and other contminants to the groundwater by
wastewater treatment, dewatering, and other processes." (Landers, Van Norstrand; June 14,
2001)
DMG Response -Please see DMG Response to Item 2 above.
9. "... there is unknown potential for impacts to the groundwater from the alluvial aquifer [hat
will be mined and dewatered. I believe I will be "affected" when 750,000 gallons of water is
taken from the water table and my well dries out for even a part of the summer. This may cause
material injury to me and my neighbors. Material injury caused by water well depletion in
private water wells and the municipal water well used by 200 people in the Milner Trailer Park
caused by taking 750,000 gallons of water per day from the watertable and only replacing part of
it." (Landers, Van Norstrand; June 14, 2001)
DMG Response -See DMG Response to Item 3 above.
