<br /> <br />EXHIBIT G <br />Water Information <br />(1) If the operation is not expected todirectly afj-ect surface or groundwater systems, a <br />statement of that expectation shall be submitted. <br />This will not be the case. <br />(2) If the operation is expected to directly affect surface or groundwater systems, the <br />Operator/Applicant shall: <br />(a) Locate on a map (in Exhibit C) tributary water sources, wefts, springs, stock <br />water ponds, reservoirs, and ditches on the affected land and on adjacent lands where <br />such structures may be affected by the proposed mining activities; <br />(b) Identify all known aquifers; and <br />The known aquifers within the permit boandazy, from lazgest to smallest, include: 1) the <br />alluvium of the Blue River, which underlies the area between State Highway 9 and the <br />steep break in slope approximately 1,000 feet to the west; and 2) the alluvium of <br />Maryland Creek, which underlies the creek from its connection with the Blue River <br />alluvium to the western edge of the permit boundary. Glacial deposits, including its <br />colluvium comprised from this material overlies much of the upland azeas to the west of <br />the Blue River valley. These deposits aze considered to be only locally saturated during <br />spring runoff and may contribute to intermittent spring flows. Underlying these materials <br />throughout the permit boundazy azea is the Pierre Shale. This thick shale unit is generally <br />considered to be impermeable and not an viable economic supply of water (i.e., not an <br />aquifer). <br />(c) Submit a brief statement or plan showing how water from dewatering operations <br />or from runoff from disturbed areas, piled materials and operating surfaces will be <br />managed to protect against pollution of either surface or groundwater, (and where <br />applicable, control pollution in a manner that is consistent with water quality discharge <br />permits), both during and after the operation. <br />A water quality pond will be used to impound the fvst flush''/z inch of runoff from <br />disturbed azeas. A detention time of 25 to 40 hours will be targeted. Diversion ditches <br />and/or berms will be used to route all flows form disturbed areas into ponds. A <br />perforated stand pipe outlet surrounded by a gravel pack will be used as an outlet. <br />G-1 <br />
