~~
a
B. MONITORING REQUIREMENTS

PART I
Page lg of 19
Permit No. CO-0032115
4. Storm Exemption - 001, 002, 003, 005, 006, 008, 009, 010, 011, 012,
013 and 014 (Cont.)
In addition, if discharge occurs as a result of the 10-year, 24-hour
storm volume being exceeded and the permit tee wishes to claim an
exemption from technology based effluent limitations, the permittee
shall submit, within 5 days of the said discharge, documentation that
the facilities were maintained to contain or treat the previously
specified volumes. The permittee must also submit documentation of
the storm event, including the precipitation recorded at the closest
official precipitation gauge station (or the permittee's own gauge),
the volume of storm runoff produced and the steps taken to maintain
treatment and minimize the amount of overflow.
All data/documentation required by this section which can not be
reported on applicable discharge monitoring report forms (DNB's) shall
be reported in letter form as an attachment to the DMR.
Submittal of documentation of containment, maintenance and
precipitation records above does not exempt the permittee from the
notification requirements of PART II.A.3. of this permit.

5. Change in Discharge - Notification - 001, 013 and 014
The pennittee may change the status of any of the above listed
discharge points from having only surface runoff as the source to
adding mine water. To make this change, the pennittee is technically
required to notify the Division 180 days prior to the change taking
place. However, the Division will try to streamline the amendment
process to the extent possible, so that the changes can go into effect
as quickly as possible. (Public notice of the amendment will still be
required.)
Such notification by the permittee shall include:
- the discharge point in question;
- the source(s) of wastewater;
- the estimated volume, in MGD; and
- the estimated length of time such dewatering will occur with
relation to this discharge point.
Once this notification has been reviewed and approved by the Division,
the Division will institute an amendment to the permit to change the
effluent limits for that discharge point from those in Table VI.1 or
Table VI.2, to those in Table VI.3, which azz applicable to mine water
isc rges. WET testing wi 1 now be required at these points.
l if the permittee desires to reverse the process, and eliminate the
J mine water as a source at a discharge point, the same procedure for
amending a permit must be Followed. Also, the permittee must be able
to document that no significant amount of mine water remains in the
sediment pond(s) in question.
'4
,r~
,('.
~.
F,
i:r.
s.
,.
