RECLAMATION PLAN: uest~ion #1: More specific information as to the planting o1` the trees and shrubs is required, Items include spacing of the trees rind shrubs, number of trees and shrubs, when the trees and shrubs will bE~ planted, where the trees and shrubs will be obtained, and how the treE~s and shrubs will be protected. Comment: Plants will be obtained from local nurseries, State Forest Service, Colorado State University, and local areas where plant life is acceptable for transplanting. A11 plants obtained from commercial suppliers shall conform to the standards of the American Association of Nurserymen as published in the "American Standard Stock", latest edition. Shrubs and ornamental trees may be in suitable sized containers or vice- versa if container plants conform to established plant standards. Plants obtained from commercial nurseries shall be guaranteed for one full year from date of final acceptance of work. The planting of trees and shrubs shall be accomplished in the manner described in Exhibits 1, ~, 3, and 4, Exhibit 5 contains a list of trees and shrubs suitable for planting at Snyder Quarry site. Species available through the State Forest Service have been indicated. Transplanting: The existing shrubs and grass surrounding the quarry operation, but within the limits of the Castle Concrete ownership, will be transplanted on the berm. A11 transplanting will be under the direct supervision of a qualified expert in the field, i. e. agronomi<_t. The supervisor will determine species, size, depth for transplanting and the transplanting location and condition. The transplanting will be accomplished by use of a front-end loader removing "plugs" from designated areas. The width will not exceed the width of the front-end loader and the length will not exceed 4 feet. This limitation is to prevent the "plug" from rolling, causing damage to the roots and branches. The maintenance and observation period, one ~1) year, will be as determined by the supervisor and administered by Castle Concrete personnel. Trees shall be spaced approximately 8 to 12 feet apart. Shrub; shall be normally spaced 4 to 8 feet apart. Shrubs and trees shall be ~~lanted in diamond shaped clusters to achieve approximately 7% crown cover. The larger portion of this cover (75%} will be planted at the top of the berm and on that area previously described as Top Area "Sight Reclamation".
