52.04 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR INFORMATION ON ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES.

2.04.10 Vegetation Information. (Cont'd.)
(4) (Cont'd.)
Appendix, Volume 9A. Vegetation Analyses for the area of the
Orchard Valley S~'est Mine were completed by Harner & Associ-
ates, Inc. and are contained in the report in the Vegetation
Appendix, Volu,ne 9A.
(5) A literature and herbarium search, as well as a plant invento-
ry conducted prior to 1981, indicated that no endangered or
threatened plants were in the area of the disturbed mine fa-
cilities.
Two cacti, the spineless hedgehog cacti and the Uinta Basin
hookless cacti, are listed as threatened and endangered in
Delta County. Neither of these plants were located on the
proposed permit area during inventories and literature
searches conducted by the Natural Heritage Inventory and the
BLM (U.S.D.O.I., Bureau of Land Management, 1983). CWI there-
fore, believes that operations at the Orchard Valley Mine will
not impact rare or endangered plant species.
• Additional review conducted by Harner 6 Associates, Inc. dur-
ing July, 1986, for the Orchard Valley West Mine study sug-
gests that two plant species known to occur in Delta County
are either considered threatened, endangered or are under re-
view for a determination of status. These are the hookless
cactus and clay-loving buckwheat. Neither species are likely
to occur in the area of the Orchard Valley West Mine nor were
they or suitable habitats observed during field investiga-
tions.
.
