• CASTLE CONCRETE COMPANY <br />SNYDER QUARRY 77-210 <br />EXHIBIT K <br />CLIMATE <br />The nearest climatic records are those of Colorado Springs. <br />The site itself no doubt differs from Colorado Springs to some degree <br />but the differences are probably not too extreme. <br />Colorado Springs itself has mild temperatures considering its <br />latitude and elevation, and extremes in either summer or winter are <br />relatively uncommon. Humidity is low and winds are moderately high, <br />especially in the winter when the Chinook winds play a very important <br />role in determining the climate. <br />• <br />i Statistically, the city has an average annual precipitation <br /> of 14.94" with the wettest month in July. Precipitation, however, <br />averages above 2" per month from May through August with in excess of <br />1" in April and September. The dryest months are December and January <br />when an average of about 1/4" of precipitation is received. Snowfall <br />amounts average just under 40" per year with July and August being the <br />only months when no snow was ever recorded. <br />Temperatures average 48.7°F with a mean maximum cf 62.2°F and <br />a mean minimum of 35.2°F. July is the hottest month with a mean <br />maximum of 84.6°F while January is the coldest month with a mean minimum <br />of 15.7°F. <br />Winds exhibit an average annual prevailing direction from the <br />NNE, but in June and September it prevails from the SSE.
