the earliest when about 500 square feet of revegetation will occur on
the berm.
As mentioned previously, what little natural revegetation has
occurred is not sufficient to indicate a detailed view of the successional
patterns. However, because this quarry will be reclaimed to a reasonably
domestic end use knowledge of successional sequences is not very
important as the final vegetation will be intensively managed.
In summary, vegetation has been absent from this quarry site
for a very long time. Surrounding vegetation can give a rough idea of
the original vegetation of the site, but currently the vegetation cover is
essentially none or of annual weeds. A few Junipers, Pino~l Pines, and
native forbs have invaded but are not of an abundance or e:{tent to
clearly indicate any but the most broad successional patterns. Detailed
~• knowledge of these patterns, however, is of little importa~ice to the
revegetation program as the eventual land use will call fo:= an intensively
managed revegetation.
•
S-J-4
