' eventual inclusion on the Federal List of Threatened or
Endangered Plants (Federal Register 45(242):82490). Recorded
observations of this species has been on outcrops of Niobrara
' Shale. This habitat is not similar to that of the alluvial
soil and gravelly bench deposit found in the borrow area.
' The other potentially endangered species is thought to be
Harrington Penstemon (Penstemon harringtonii). This species is
listed by the Colorado Native Plant Society (Working List of
Threatened and Endangered Plant Species of Colorado, 1978) for
' consideration as threatened or endangered. Its presence on
the pipeline bedding quarry is considered unlikely; its
absence has not been verified.
Other plant species of potential concern are those listed by the
Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Natural Areas Program
' (Candidate Plant Species of Special Concern, December 23, 1980).
Involvement of any species from that list would need to be
determined following a thorough, growing season floral inventory.

1

CI

1
1

' J-3
