1
' TIME OF SEEDING
1

L
1
1

1

1

The preferred season of seeding is late fall (after October 1).
If logistics necessitate, seeding will proceed in spring as
early as equipment or personnel can operate without damaging
the seedbed.
WEED CONTROL
During storage, topsoil will be kept as weed free as possible
to avoid excessive weed growth during final reclamation.
Stabilization of the topsoil stockpile with an aggressive,
predominantly perennial cover as proposed is expected to
minimize weed growth. During the revegetation process, if
weed growth threatens the successful re-establishment of the
desired perennial cover, physical or chemical control methods,
or both, may be used depending on the particular weed species.
Any substantial development of a Colorado prohibited noxious
weed will be eradicated.
CONTROL OF GRAZING
Grazing by domestic livestock in the reclaimed area will be
controlled for two years or until the area is capable of
supporting grazing. Control of grazing will be exercised
through use of a perimeter fence around the mine and stockpile
areas.
TIMETABLE OF RECLAMATION
Initial reclamation of the disturbed sites at the Windy Gap
borrow area C will proceed in late 1984 following completion
of the bulk of project construction. Following this time,
material for maintenance and upkeep will be removed from time
to time over an indefinite period. When there is no more need
for maintenance material, reclamation of the site will be
completed. A general sequence of reclamation can be described
as follows: topsoil removal, topsoil storage and stabilization,
final grading, topsoil respreading, phosphorous fertilization,
seedbed preparation, mulching, seeding, nitrogen fertilization,
and protection from grazing.
RULE 6 REGULATIONS NOT ADDRESSED ABOVE
Grading
No acid-forming or toxic materials will be present in the
materials subject to reclamation. Drill or auger holes left
exposed after construction, if any, will be plugged with non-
combustible materials.
E-6
