I+1fTen informed of the fact that a cotrplete letter had
been issued on Aoril 7, 1978, and that the permit applications had not then
been considered by the Board within 30 days, they further moved that all six
pits should be issued permits. This was so moved with the understanding that
our Division staff would work with you to bring these permits up to date as
relates to actual field conditions at the six pits as soon as possible.
Within the next few weeks I will review all six per[rdt files in light of my
August inspections of the pits. I will then send you a letter that sutrmarizes
my judgments concerning necessary modifications and revisions to the permits.
We can then discuss exactly has to bring the permits up to date.
I am enclosing the following items with this mailing:
1) My six inspection reports from the August inspections of the gravel pits;
2) The mining and reclamation permits (2 sig}Ted copies of each) for all six
Montezuma CoLmty gravel pits (note that legal description corrected for permit
~~78-110);
3) A current copy of our Rules and Regulations; and
4) Limited impact (110) and regular (112) permit application forms.
For each of the six permits, both copies should be signed on page three by an
appropriate Montezuma County official (such as the Chairman of the Board of
County Crnmissicners), and the signature should be notarized. One copy should
be retained for your files, and one should be returned to our Division within
two weeks. Please note that, although copies o the application materials
submitted by Montezuma Cotmty have not been included, they should be considered
an integral part of each permit, Copies of any of these materials will be
provided upon request.
