Risk Assessment
The potential exists for sediment erosion from the haul road during stormwater runoff.
Therefore, measures to remove sediment prior to stormwater entering the surface water
system are necessary.
Applicable BMPs and Good Housekeeping Practices
In order to provide proper drainage for the haul road, breaks in the safety berm are
provided at regular intervals. These breaks drain to sumps and naturally vegetated azeas
that collect sediment and allow infiltration. Upon width-reduction of the southern section
of the haul road, areas that aze pulled in and reclaimed will require surface scarification,
topsoiling, and vegetation to prevent sediment migration from the reclaimed area as well
as the roadway surface. Drains to stormwater sumps will be left in place to further
prevent migration of sediments from the roadway surface.
6.11 Old Heap Leach
Source
The historic heap leach pad was neutralized in accordance with DMG regulations and the
material, liner, and all associated facilities have been removed from the site. Topsoil
applications along the facility surface have been vegetated and native grasses and shrubs
have established on the site to control erosion and prevent the migration of sediment. No
further consideration of this area is necessary in this Stormwater Management Plan.
6.12 Test Heap/Office Site
As noted earlier, the ownership of these facilities has been transferred from BMRI.
Therefore, the continued management of these facilities is eliminated from discussion in
this Stormwater Management Plan.
7.0 MAINTENANCE OF SEDIMENT CONTROL AND OTHER BMPS
Maintenance of the facilities installed to reduce sediment and other types of potential
pollution is paramount to ensure proper operation and continued service.
