The substratum
below 30 inches is a pinkish-white to pink calcareous loam.
Permeability is moderate. Effective rooting depth is more than 60 inches.
Available water capacity is high. Surface runoff is low and erosion hazard is
moderate.
This soil is used for native range, dry land wheat and irrigated hay and
pasture.
Rock Outcrop
This land type consists of near vertical sandstone and shale cliffs, walls and
mesa rims. Rock slides and slips and very stoney collu~ial alluvial fans occur at
the bases of most of the near vertical walls and cliffs.
Vegetation cover varies from little or none on cliff areas and mesa rims to a
scattered cover of Douglas Fir or Pinyon and Juniper trees mixed ~~ith a sparse cover
of brush, grasses and borbes.
Because of steep slopes and sparse cover, this land has little or no value For
livestock grazing. It has value for some types of wildlife and as watershed.
