RESIILTS
Water Chemistrv
The waters' chemical characteristics prior to manipulation appear
in Table 2.
The pH and alkalinity of manipulated waters appear in Table 3.
Toxicity Tests and Survival data
All the Blanks, the effluent samples with 95 and X5.0 alkalinity,
and the 1000 effluent samples exhibited acute toxicity to the
cladocerans within 24 hours.
Following pH adjustment with sodium hydroxide, the blanks and all
effluent samples (excluding the 100 o sample) proved non-toxic to
the organisms over a 24 hour period.
The effluent samples with alkalinities of 1110 mg/L and 650 mg/L
were not found to be significantly toxic nor was the Gunnison River
water control.
There was 70% survival in the effluent sample with an alkalinity of
1110 mg/L that borders on being significant. Survival data for all
samples appear in Table 4.
Statistical Analysis
Appendix A - Results of Dunnett's Test.
-4-
COMMER CIAL TESTING & ENGINEERING CO.
nm al Copy Water marketl
=p.
