7) Weed Control: Take care in not mowing off the grass
crowns. Mowing heights should not be less than eight
inches.
8) Grazing: This grass stand will take two to four years
to establish itself. This area should ultimately be
protected from any grazing activity.
9). Trees, Shrubs and Other Vegetation: In addition to
trees and shrubs, the lake perimeters should be seeded with
cattails, sedges, rushes, and cordgrasses to enhance
wildlife habitat. Please consult the Brighton Soil
Conservation Service for species and planting specifications
for these areas.
10) Structures: No further comments.
11) Please consult the Brighton Soil Conservation Service
for the type of species to seed on top of the berm for
erosion protection.
The Platte Valley Soil Conservation District as a whole is
concerned that the large amounts of pits in close proximity
to the edges of the Platte River could severely alter the
flow of the river if a flood situation where to occur.
Therefore, the berms surrounding these pits (lakes) must be
sufficiently engineered to prevent such an incident.
If you have any questions regarding the above comments,
please feel free to contact our office at any time. Thank-
you.
Sincerely,
~~~j ~~
Clyd Abbett
Platte Valley Soil Conservation District
