XBE-Wineveda-Splitro Silt Loam Complex. This map unit is located on the steep bedrock •
controlled sideslopes, swales, and ridges to the west of Bond Drainage. These soils are
shallow to moderately deep and lack significant subsoil/substratum profile development.
The reconmended topsoil salvage depth for both soils is based solely on the depth to
sandstone bedrock. The mean in situ suitable topsoil depth for 5 Splitro profiles is just
under 1.5 feet. The mean in situ suitable topsoil depth for 7 Wineveda profiles is 2.5
feet.
The XBE map unit consists of 45 percent Wineveda, 30 percent Splitro, 10 percent Skyway,
and 5 percent each of Cou tis, Routt, and Skylick. A 1.5-foot mean salvage depth was used
for this map unit to calculate topsoil volumes listed in Table 9-7-1 and Exhibit 9-1.
This topsoil salvage depth figure accounts for topsoil loss during salvage due to brush
clearing and steep slopes.
12E-Buckskin Silty Clay Loam. Buckskin silty clay loam soils occur on the steep, mountain
sideslopes, benches, and small knobs adjacent to and east of Bond Drainage. The soil
profile is deep and well developed with a dark colored surface horizon and subsoil clay •
accumulation. This soil has a thinner surface horizon than Routt.
The recommended topsoil salvage depth is based exclusively on the thickness of the surface
mollic epipedon since subsurface clay levels are unsuitable. The mean in situ suitable
topsoil depth for 3 profiles is 1.0 feet.
The 12E map unit consists of 80 percent Buckskin with 10 percent Routt and 5 percent each
of Binco and Aabe rg inclusions. A 1.0-foot mean salvage depth was used for this map unit
to calculate topsoil volumes listed in Table 9-7-1 and Exhibit 9-1.
23B-Gapo Variant Silt Loam. The Gapo variant silt loam soil is located on the poorly
drained, gently sloping Bond Drainage channel directly north of existing Pond 008. The
soil profile has a dark colored surface horizon which overlies a clay subsoil and
substratum.
The reconmended topsoil salvage depth is based on the depth to ground water and the
thickness of the surface mollic epipedon since subsurface clay levels are unsuitable. The •
mean in situ suitable topsoil depth for 1 profile is slightly over 0.5 feet.
9-7-6 Revised 05/16/88
