• Groundwater Conditions
Groundwater levels measured in the borings for the current investigation are
summarized below and also shown schematically on the RDA cross-section (Sheet
3).
DEPTH TO WATER -CURRENT INVESTIGATION
L J
Boring Surface Groundwater Depths After Drilling (Feet)
Elevation
0 Days
2 to 3 Days
78 Days
TH-201 7486 Dry Dry Dry
TH-202 7531 52 52 67
TH-203 7587 Dry Dry 97
TH-204 7637 28 21 Buried
TH-205 7640 30 17 Buried
TH-206 7647 6 6 Buried
The results of the ground water measurements for this investigation indicate free
water is present in some layers within the upper portions of the refuse fill. In the
borings drilled on the lower three benches, water was found at or below the base
of the coal refuse fill.
to our 1991 investigation (Reference 5) the RDA was completed to an

elevation of about 7583. Borings were drilled in the top surface of the RDA and a
relatively consistent wet layer about 20 feet thick was found. Four of the previous
borings were completed as piezometers to various depths (slotted pipe was placed
in the bottom 5 feet of the boring and with a bentonite seal above). The results of
the previous groundwater measurements are summarized below.
10
