General
S!
1`fS~~~ 1. On the first page of your application, item 4 indicates the substance to be mined is gravel.
. Exhibit C, item 4, indicates the substance to be mined is clay. Please state whether the
material to be mined will be gravel, clay or both and make the appropriate corrections to
your application by providing substitute pages.
Exhibit C -Mining Plan
O`2 1. Your Exhibit C, item 3, states, "waste rock removed will be used on road sides." The
~~ 3. Your item 6 states, "the dimensions of the excavation area are 422.4 feet by 283.8 feet,"
which is 2.75 acres. Your requested permitted acres is 9.025, and your mine plan map
indicates by direction of mining arrows that the entire permit area will be mined. What
are the dimensions of the entire excavation) Discuss the dimensions of any other
significant disturbances to the land.
Exhibit D -Reclamation Plan
~I.~1. The Division assumes that no overburden materials will be replaced into the pit as part of
66 reclamation. Please confirm this or discuss overburden replacement.
~2. The SCS reclamation plan is not specific as to the maximum gra lent f reclaimed slopes.
You must specify which of the two gradients mentioned, 2:1 0 3:1, ill not be ex-
ceeded. If you decide upon 2:1, you must include a justificati nth supports the
proposed post-mining land use and demonstrates compliance w he applicable per-
formance standards of Rule 6.

waste rock, if it leaves the permit area, is considered mined material, not waste rock. Is
this material gravel or some other type of rock? Will all of this "waste rock" be used off
site or will some of it be stockpiled and backfilled into the pit at reclamation) If so, what
quantity of waste rock will be stockpiled? If waste rock is to be stockpiled, show on your
mine map the location of the stockpiles.
~~ 2. Your item 4 states, "the clay deposit averages 19 inches in depth." Are there other
deposits that will be mined, such as gravel or other rock material? If so, how thick are
these deposits?
,6~. You have stated that the SCS reclamation plan submitted with your application will be
U followed. The Division will apply the highest standards of this plan to your permit to
determine compliance during reclamation and in determining if the reclamation plan has
been met at the time release from reclamation responsibility is requested. If you
determine that other standards should be a part of your permit, please address them.
Form CO-ECS-5 is considered by the Division to be a part of your reclamation plan. Your
plan is a very good one and, if followed, should be successful.
b~. You have stated that you will follow the SCS reclamation plan. The SCS plan states that
"depending on the specific site of the pit, a diversion dike may be needed on the upper
side to convey surface storm runoff..." Please advise the SCS as to the specific site so
they can determine if a diversion dike is necessary and, if so, describe the location and
specifications for the dike and show it on your mine plan/reclamation plan map.
