The slope stability calr.nla,lions rere
• performed using a computer program called GEOSLUPE, Version a.10,
based upon the program STAR1,3, developed at Purdue University.
The calculated stabilities were made using the Simplified Janbu
Method of Slices, for irregular failure surfaces.
GRQUKD WATER
The ground water conditions at this site
and along the purposed road alignments t[as not been well docu-
mented. This study assumed that small, localized perched waters
may he associated with snow melt or occasional periods of eKtenci-
ed precipitation. These perched waters are assumed to be very
localized, concentrated near the interface of the srtrface collu-
vit[m and the underlying sandstones, siltstones, mudstones and
• shales of the Bowie Member of the Mesa Verde Formation. It has
been assumed the construction will include proper road drainage
features and that any fills placed as a part of this construction
pr•nject will be properly drained and protected from infiltration
of large amounts of surface or ground water. Such protection
will include properly constructed road ditches and culverts and,
may include subsurface drainage layers placed as a part of or at
the base of the of surface or ground water. Such protection will
include properly constructed road ditches and culverts and, may
include subsurface drainage layers placed ss a part of or at the
base of the fills.
5
•
