ridges, knolls, sideslopee, end rounded ridgetops. The soil profile is moderately deep
with a thin light colored surface horizon which overlies a clay subsoil end substratum.
Adjacent Binco soils have deep profiles. Buckskin soils have dark colored surface
horizons end subsoil clay accumulation.
The subsoil end substratum of the Aeberg profile is en unsuitable soil source due [o en
exceasi ve clay content, very high saturation percenteg e, and unfavorable consistence
(Addendum 8, Teb 9). Tha moderately high clay content of the A horizon is alleviated by
e high organic matter content (darker color), higher root numbers and favorable
Cdn91SLlnCl.
The 350 end 35E map units consist of 85 percent Aeberg with 10 percent Binco and 5 percent
Buckskin intluaiona (Addendum 3, Teb 9). A 0.5-foot mean salvage thickness was used for
these map units to calculate recoverable soil volumes listed in Table 1 and Exhibit 9-1.
46C, 46D-Splitro Loam. Splitro loam soils occur on gently sloping to moderately steep
upper sideslopee, knolls, and ridges. the soil profile has a dark colored surface horizon
which directly overlies sandstone bedrock et 10 to 20 inches. Included with this map unit
• are moderately tleep Yinevada soils, sandstone rock outcrop areas, and Routt soils with
more profile development and subsoil clay accumulation.
The recommended soil salvage thickness is based exclusively on the depth to sandstone
bedrock. The mean in situ suitable soil thickness for 17 Splitro profiles is 13 inches
(Addendum 8, Tab 9).
The 46C and 46D map units consist of 80 percent Splitro with 70 percent winevada, 5
percent rock outcrop, and 5 percent Routt inclusions (Addendum 3, Tab 9). A 1.0-foot mean
salvage thickness was used for these map units to calculate recoverable soil volumes
listed in Table 1 and Exhibit 9-1. This soil salvage figure accounts for inclusions antl
soil loss during salvage due to brush clearing.
53C, 53D, 33E-Winevada Loam. 4inevada loam is located on gently sloping to steep
concave-shaped, bedrock controlled sideslopee and swales. The soil profile has a thick,
dark colored surface horizon which directly overlies sandstone bedrock at 20 to 40 inches.
Adjacent soils are shallower (Splitro), deeper (Coutis), or have more profile development
• with subsoil clay accumulation (FOidel Variant and Routt).
15
