inclusions (Addendum 3, Tab 91. Mean salvage thicknesses of 2.0 and 1.5-feet were used far Map
Units 2D and 2E, respectively, to cal~:ulate recoverable soil volumes listed in Table 1 and Exhibit 9-1.
These soil salvage figures account for inclusions and soil loss during salvage due to brush clearing. •
Routt on slopes in excess of 45 percent (Map Unit 2F1 is unsalvageable due to very steeFt slopes
(Addendum 8, Tab 91.
66-Zoltay Variant Clay Loam. Zoltay Variant clay loam soils occur on nearly level to gently sloping
alluvial fans and drainage way bottoms. This soil is deep, has a thick, dark colored surface horizon,
and has subsoil clay accumulation. Adjacent Silas and Coutis profiles lack significant
subsoil/substratum profile development and clay accumulation.
The recommended soil salvage thickness is based solely on the thickness of the surface mollic
epipedon and transitional horizons since subsurface clay levels are unsuitable. Soil salvage should be
terminated at the top of the argillic IBtI horizon. The mean in situ suitable soil thickness for 3 profiles
is 20 inches (Addendum 8, Tab 91.
The 66 map unit consists of 85 percent Zoltay variant and 5 percent each of Coutis, Silas, and
Spicerton variant inclusions (Addendum 3, Tab 91. A 2.0-foot mean salvage thickness was used for '
Map Unit 6B to calculate recoverable soil volumes listed in Ta61e 1 and Exhibit 9-1 .
X80, X8E-Winevada-Splitro Complex. These soils are shallow to moderately deep, lack '
significant subsoil/substratum profile development, and typically have afine-loamy particle size control
section.
The recommended soil salvage thickness for both soils is based solely on the depth to sandstone
bedrock. The mean in situ suitable soil thickness for 17 Splitro profiles is 13 inches (Addendum 8,
Tab 91. The mean in situ suitable soil thickness for 30 Winevada protifes is 30 inches (Addendum 8,
Tab 91.
The X8D and X8E map units consist of 45 percent Winevada and 35 percent Splitro with 5 percent
each of Coutis, Foidel, Routt, and Rock Outcrop inclusions (Addendum 3, Tab 91.
