Box 537 <br />Idaho Springs, CO 80452 <br />Dear Alvin: <br />J '~ra n ~~ I~J/ <br />Thank you for taking the time to write expressing your views <br />concerning your problems with excessive state government regulations. <br />As a former self-employed businessman, I share your frustrations <br />with the seemingly unending and unnecessary rules and regulations placed <br />upon the free enterprise sytem by government regulators. <br />To address your specific problems, I will discuss this situation <br />with the acting director of the Division of Mined Land Reclamation, Mr. Dave Shelton. <br />Also, for your information, I will be co-sponsoring legislation during this <br />session to reduce bond requirements for many businesses. By copy of <br />this letter, I am requesting Mr. Greg Romberg, Division of Regulatory Reform, <br />to review your bonding requirements in an effort to determine the need <br />to support alternative measures. <br />The future role and mission fo the CMLRD may be changed from regulatory <br />to assisting the states mining industry in developing safety <br />procedures and to assist your industry in compliance with federal rules <br />and regulations.
