Notice of Intent to Explore
Involving Removal of 250 Tons or Less of Coal
Terror Creek 2D Seismic Survey
Delta County, Colorado
June 2006
r1
U
Introduction
This plan is submitted to the Division of Minerals & Geology, Colorado Department of
Natural Resources, in accordance with the Colorado Surface Coal Mining
Reclamation Act, 34 -33 -101 et seq., C. R. S. 1973 as Amended, Section 34 -33 -117,
and the Rules promulgated thereunder. Further references will be in the form of
§2.02.2(2)(c). Bowie Resources, LLC may hereinafter be referred to as BRL and
Bowie.
Purpose
BRL proposes to complete a 2D seismic data acquisition project in order to examine
the geologic subsurface structure. The need for the project is to determine the
location and orientation of known and inferred faults that may negatively impact the
extraction of coal resources in the project area. The proposed 2D survey would
generate data that may be used to more accurately define the location and sizes of
potential longwall recovery blocks, thereby reducing the risks and uncertainties
associated with fault encounters and maximizing the recovery of federal coal
reserves. Data gathered from the surface may reduce unnecessary drilling and
construction of associated roads, well pads, and other surface disturbances. The
survey may verify and /or supplement the existing subsurface geologic data and could
facilitate collection of new data in the project area where geophysical surveys and /or
drilling have not occurred. BRL holds federal coal leases in the area of the proposed
2D geophysical exploration and needs immediate accumulation of subsurface data
so that it can determine the viability of drilling in the near future.
Notice of Intent information
§2.02.2(2)(a): Name, Address, and phone number of applicant
Name: Bowie Resources, LLC
Address: P. O. Box 483, Paonia, CO 81428
Phone No: (970) 929 -5367
§2.02.2(2)(b): Name, Address, and telephone number of the representative
of the applicant who will be present during and be
responsible for conducting the exploration activities.
To be designated immediately prior to initiation of exploration operations.
