• {6) Overburden <br />The Golden Eagle mine was an underground operation: No overburden was removed nor <br />exposives used on the surface during the operation of the mine. No use of explosives are <br />planned during this permit term. <br />(7) Coal Handling Structures <br />The raw coal handling structures that Basin used during its mining operations are shown <br />on Map 10 -Surface Facilities and Roads. The raw coal was transported to the surface on <br />a slope belt, dropped through a stacking tube to a stockpile, drawn through a reclaim <br />tunnel and conveyed into the breaker building. The coal was sized and waste rock <br />separated at the rotary breaker. Waste material was trucked to the disposal area while the <br />coal was conveyed to the loadout for shipment to the New Elk Mine for processing. <br />All facilities were removed and the surface reclaimed in 1996. <br />(S) Coal Processing Waste and Non~oal Processing Waste <br />Trash waste consisting of paper, cans, rags, and other assorted minor industrial waste was <br />hauled by commercial trash handing firm to a permitted county landfill. Other waste <br />material which had some salvage value were stockpiled in the Scrap Storage Area <br />• identified on Map 10 -Surface Facilities and Roads for periodic shipment to salvage <br />dealers. <br />In response to Stipulation 9, a five acre coal processing waste area in Ciruela Canyon was <br />constructed. The extent of the piles projected hydrolocic impacts as well as design <br />specifications are described in Exhibit 17, Disposal Area Design. The design capacity of <br />the pile was 101,000 cubic yards including processing and development waste. <br />(9) Underground Development Waste <br />Underground Development Waste was disposed of in the coal processing waste bank. <br />(10) ~teturn of Coal Processing Waste to Abandoned Workings <br />No coal processing waste was returned to abandoned workings during the operation of <br />the Golden Eagle Mine. <br /> <br />Page 2.05-13 (Permit Renewal Rews+eu 3/3l/00) <br />RN -d3 <br />
