.°~
.~
Lorraine Stepenske
March 9, 1993
Page 2
b. Initial pit dewatering operations will utilize the existing
channel located in the south center of the proposed site.
This channel discharges to the Yampa River. The channel
was the location for the dewatering system discharge used
for the previous mining operations at this site, It may be
feasible to utilize this location for dewatering throughout
the life of mining operations.
c. As mining progresses to the west, the dewatering system may
have to be relocated to the west accordingly. A small
channel would have to be dug through the 100' zone.
Construction of this channel, if required, would require
excavation of a ditch approximately 3' to 4' deep by 4' to
5' wide. The settling pond could be located within the
100' zone.
d. Mature cottonwoods that exist within the 100' zone will not
be disturbed.
4. Irrigation ditches entering property at the proposed site.
a. The irrigation ditches entering the proposed site are
end-use ditches.
5. Topsoil stockpiles.
a. Topsoil stockpiles to be saved for reclamation will be
signed or marked to protect them from unintentional sale.
6. Topsoil stockpiles at the completion of mining.
a. Topsoil stockpiles located along the northerly boundaries
of the proposed site will be graded and landscaped during
mining activities. The landowner has requested that these
topsoil berms be "flattened" or removed at the completion
of mining. The topsoil in the stockpiles will be excess
and not required for site reclamation. This excess
topsoil may also be sold or placed "extra depth" in
reclamation areas.
b. Topsoil stockpile areas will be graded and eloped no
steeper than 3H:iV. Topsoil stockpile areas will be seeded
to prevent erosion. Topsoil stockpiles used for commercial
will not be seeded.
7. Exhibit I) - Mining Plan
a. Commercial use topsoil stockpiles will be located outside
of the pit excavations.
