This will help mi.nimie the impacts from mining operations
for Yampa River recreational usaye a=_. Well. a leave the
e;;isting channel. area, bottom land and trees undisturbed
a.nd proter_ted for wildlife habitat and +"+saye. In addition,
the south str~c4:piles woi.+ld also help to protect mining
nperat.ions and equipment: should !+n~_+s~_+ally h.iyh water occur
in the Yampa River
E+. Initial dewatering will commence at the east side of the
project at the e?;istiny pond area. D+"+e to the high water
table in t.hi.s area, dewatering ari.ll be rer~~_+i.red for
efficient mining operations and procedures. Dewater.ing
,hall commence after topsoil and overb+_+rden have been
removed. In.iti.ally a trench and ~-i.+mp station (electric
submersible p~_+mpsi will 6e employed at the south bn+_+ndaries
of the e;;cavated area. A settlement pond will be
constr~+cted along the soi_+th boundaries afi the e;:cavati.nr?s
and the water from the trench and s+..+mp system will be
p~+mped into this pond. Al.l dews±eriny shall 6e direct.ed to
the settlement pond befinr'e allowiny .it t.n ogress bac4:: to
the river. A Colorado Department of Wa.±er Llt+ali.ty permit
is being applied for L"he dischar-ye points to the r-.iver.
Same dewatering discharge may be directed to the Hayue
the Hogue Ranch .irr".igation system if condi.t.ions warrant.
This w.i.ll lower the water table in the mining area and
alp-o dewater the gravel in .its undistur-bed natural strai.e.
By m.ini.mi.zing disturbance nfi the gravel prior to
dewateriny, we will 6e pumping mostly clean water to the
settling pond, therefore minimi~i.ng P;:cess mud and si.J.t
accumulatir_,ns .in the pond. By dewatering i.n situ we. will
i.+ti.li.ze the nati.+ral seams in the gravel to dewater itself.
This would also help to eliminate e;;cess particles firr.~m the
water t?eiore pumping water to the settlement panel.
