<br />C (9-36"): Dark grayish brown (10YR 5/2) clay, very <br />dark gray brown (tOYR 3/2) moist; moderately medium subangular <br />and blocky structure; very hard, very friable, very sticky <br />and very plastic; 5~ gravel; noneffervescent; moderately <br />alkaline (pH 8.0); clear wavy boundary. <br />Cca (36-48"): Dark grayish brown (10YR 5/2) heavy clayey <br />loam, very dark gray brown (tOYR 3/2) moist; massive <br />structure; hard, friable, sticky and plastic; 5~ gravel; <br />strongly effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.0). <br />CR (48+"): Fractured sandstone. <br />• <br />• <br />Range in Characteristics: The profile in noncalcareous <br />to 36 inches .'A horizons are loam, S horizons are clayey <br />loam, and C horizons range Prom clay to heavy clayey loam. <br />Depth to bedrock is 48 inches. <br />Setting: The Jerry series occur on steep mountain. They <br />are formed in residuum and colluvium from sandstone bedrock.. <br />Elevations range from 7200 to 7400 Peet above mean sea level. <br />The average annual precipitation is approximately 18 inches <br />and the average annual air temperature is about 43 degrees <br />F. Slopes are 2 to 50~. <br />Type Location: 375 feet east and 1,600 feet south of the <br />northwest corner of Section 8, T6S, R90W. Pit Number 2. <br />Topsoil Suitability: Poor to fair. <br /> <br />
