• 1) The addition oP a soil layer to be used as a
seedbed, as necessary.
2) Fill slopes should be moderately compacted
Por stabilization purposes.
3) Hydroseeding or broadcast seeding Followed by
the application of a mulching medium are the most
logical seeding methods.
It should be noted that the areas indicated for each
revegetation potential class are not exclusive. The rating
of a road segment as Class 3, Por example, might arise Prom
areas oP exposed bedrock on the cut slopes. The roadbed andjor
fill slopes may have moderately deep to deep soil material
present, but the presence of bare cut slopes will require
an increased effort such as hydroseeding .to achieve full
• revegetation. Soil material for the cut slope areas could
be obtained from the deeper soils found in the fill slopes.
or roadbed, ensuring that sufficient soil material is left
in place in the borrow areas to provide a suitable seedbed.
Present data indicate that revegetation oP the mixed
material pile located in the pad area should not be
problematical as no problems were noted that would cause
the material to be classified as unsuitable (sample 4,
Appendix C). The only item of concern is the percent oP coarse
fragments, but she topsoil in the pad area (Jerry loam) has
a high percent oP coarse fragments naturally.
