The Class 3 mapping unit in the survey area is Unnamed
Lithic Camborthid-Rock Outcrop Complex. This soil is loamy
with textures typically ranging from loam to clay loam.
This soil is well-drained with slow permeability. It
is non-saline and non-alkaline to depths of at least 17
inches. Wind and water erosion hazard is moderate. Tilth
at optimum moisture content is fair, the potential for
compaction varies from low to moderate. Soil structure has
fair to good stability when wet. The potential for crusting
upon drying is low~to moderate. Available water holding
capacity is moderate. Effective rooting depth is commonly
10 to 20 inches.
• Class 4
The Class 4 soils are saline-alkali to the surface
or fragmental, clayey-skeletal and loamy-skeletal soils
unsuitable for topsoil use. There are no undisturbed Class
4 soil series and series variants in the survey area.
1.6.2 Disturbed Areas - Revegetation Potential and
ug esgesg ~d~rac~"ices
The disturbed areas in the Storm King Mine study area
were evaluated and rated for their ability to be successfully
revegetated. The rating system and rationale used are as
follows.
r
i
- 21 -
