MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C
1. General Plan
The property boundary has been surveyed on site and the permit area will be surveyed prior to any
site disturbance. Map E-1 shows the mining plan and river crossing details.
Prior to any mining operations, the sediment control system will be installed, which consists of a 10
feet high berm made of topsoil on the north side of the property, which is meant to isolate runoff
water on and off the site. A 2 feet high topsoil berm will be placed on the other sides of the permit
area for the same purpose. The berms will also contain the runoff from the 100 yeaz - 24 hour event
within the permit area. If a 100 year flood occurs, the berms should isolate the permit azea from the
rest of the floodplain, even though the majority of the permit azea is within the 100 year floodplain.
The berms also serve the purpose of temporarily storing the topsoil from the mine pit and facilities
areas. All sideslopes for the temporary piles will be 3.OH1.OV. Once mining is terminated, these
piles will be graded back into the lake to help create shelf wetlands. Also, prior to mining, the over-
head cable television line will be moved to immediately west of the permit area. See letter from ca-
blecompany in Exhibit L.
As shown on Map E-1, the plan of operation is to initially strip the topsoil from the mining area and
stockpile it, which is approximately 8.07 acres. This material is expected to average 0.25 feet in
thiclrness, therefore the volume to be moved is 3255 cubic yards. The topsoil stockpile (berm) area
allocated at the northern end of the permit area as shown on the map. The topsoil stockpile will have
an average height of 5 feet and will be seeded immediately with the seed mix described in the recla-
mationplan. No slopes of the stockpile will exceed 2.OH: LOV. The pile shown on Map E-I at an
average height of 5 feet and a length of 439 feet will hold 3255 cubic yards, therefore, the pile area is
adequate.
A Cat D-8 or D-9 dozer is expected to perform the stripping and stockpiling. Scrapers could also be
used.
North Fork Pit March 04 16
