E Seam Drill Hole for Concrete Delivery Project Plan
Minor Revision 333
PROPOSED DRILL HOLE PLUGGING METHODS
In accordance with the Coal Program Guidance Document -Methane Drainage and
Monitoring Wells, MCC will plug and abandon this hole per the DMG Rules 2.05.4 and
4.07.3 at the minimum. A mechanical packer will be set at the lowest possible point in
the well (note that subsidence damage to the casing may preclude access to the entire
depth of the casing). Above this packer the hole will be plugged with CDMG approved
materials to the bottom of the 5-foot cement surface cap using tremmie line. The top 5-
feet of the well below the sub-surface casing cut-0ff point (3-feet below the surface) will
be plugged with a cement cap. The top 3-feet of the casing will then be cut off and the
hole filled in with subsoil. A permanent marker shall be installed on top of the plug
identifying the well. The pad will then be reclaimed to approximate original contour.
The l4lethane Drainage WeGI Project, Shaft Projects, and other drilling experience
for lVlountain Coal Company has shown that no aquifers have yet been encountered.
However, the procedures described above would serve to properly protect any aquifers
that would be encountered.
RECLAMATION PLAN
Reclamation of the pad will follow when it is decided by MCC that the drill hole is not
performing it's intended purpose of delivering concrete to the E Seam.
1. Upon completion of each phase of activity at a given site, all debris, gash, and
drilling related equipment, will be removed from the site.
2. A backhoe, track excavator, and a bulldozer will redistribute roadway material
(roadbase) on and around the drill pad to achieve as closely as practicable the
original contour of the road.
3. The entu drill pad area and reclaimed wads will be re-seeded using the
MCGCDMG-agreed seed mix for reclamation purposes on these lands and
more accurately described in the Permit Application Package.
4. Any coal recovered incidentally to this project will be in the fomr of cuttings or
core and would either be taken back to the mine site and disposed of in the
RPE.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE
Drilling of this hole is anticipated to commence May 1, 2006, depending on drill rig
availability and CDMG approval. It will take approximately 3 days to drill and complete
the hole.
The term of use is variable due to the need for the hole.
