-.. <br />PETITION IN OPPOSITION TO TtIE <br />4TILL04J BEND SAND PIT <br />[dE, THE UNDERSIGNED, being property owners and/or residents in the County <br />of La Plata, State of Colorado, oppose the approval of the p lopoaed 4Tillow <br />Bend Sand Pit (Planning Actton No. 86-210). <br />1. The proposed commercial/industrial use is inconaiadent with the <br />predominantly rural/residential character of the neighborhood. <br />2. La Plata County has conceded its tnability to regulate expansions of <br />use on the same parcel, as shown by its recent refusal to addre a the commer- <br />cial use of the glider port by Laverne St. Clair. <br />3. La Plata County would be powerless to control the exp nsion of this <br />use once established. The Mined Land Reclama*_ion Board permit a pltcation for <br />tllia pi.t has a maximum allowable extraction rate of 70,000 t na par year, <br />which would have a devastating impact upon surrounding propertie . <br />4.
