The following responses are provided
in comment/response format to facilitate your review and copies of any referenced
supporting or revision materials accompany this transmittal for your review and reference.
Comment 1 - Your application is complete.
Response - No response necessary.
Comment 2 -Your project will "substantially disturb" the natural land surface.
Therefore, you will be required to submit a bond ro cover the cost of reclamation. This
bond will be added as an addendum to the mine permit and will utilize existing excess
bond monies associated with the minepe>»tit.
ResDOnse -Acknowledged, no response necessary.
Comment 3 -There are several issues bearing on the adequacy of the Notice of intent
application. These are addressed as follows:
(aJ As written, the project described in the Notice of Intent does not qualify as coal
exploration. There are activities described therein which are more appropriately
considered mine operations. Please remove references to operations activities, such as
the details of dewatering activities. This will avoid confusion with the intent ojthe
NOI, as it should cover exploration activities only. Dewatering boreholes and
ground water monitoring holes will be covered under the mine permit itself and can
be converted to the permit at the conclusion of the exploration activity.
. °0 8oz 773018 Tee 17)8795260
:375 Pne Grove rioad rax9708793018 Sernnq tns Wond's Envvonmenral Vasds
S[eamhoat Shrinaa.
