- • July 1993 -27- 923-2515
5.2.7 Native Rangeland
Native rangeland occurs continuously along Unnamed Draw. This rangeland is similar to the
rangeland along Grassy Creek as described in Section 5.1.7. The native rangeland areas along
the Unnamed Draw are in the claypan and brushy loam range sites. The brushy loam range site
was described in Section 5.1.7. The claypan range site is characterized by alkali sagebrush with
a sparse herbaceous understory composed of grasses and forts, such as western wheatgrass,
prairie Junegrass, bluebunch wheatgrass (Agropyron spicatwn), weedy milkvetch (Astragalus
sp.), and sharptip onion (Allium acuminatum). The productivity for this range site varies from
300-500 pounds per acre in median years. The range condition is poor today because of heavy
use by sheep.
• 5.3 Armand Draw
5.3.1 Stream Flow. Ground Water. and Water Quality
Armand Draw is an intermittent sveam. Flow data from station YSAF4 (Figure 2) indicates
only one flow (0.40 gallon per minute) during 12 monitoring periods extending from May 14,
1991 to August 19, 1992 (Table 5.19). Surface water quality data available from this same
station (Table 5.20) are similar in quality to the sites located in upper Grassy Creek. The
conductivity of 1.24 mmhos/cm is slightly higher than the material damage suspect level of 1.0
mmhos/cm for the Yampa basin. The value for boron (0.1 mg/1) and chloride (15 mg/1) are
below the suspect level of 0.5 mg/1 and 250 mg/1, respectively. The pH is 8.35, and as
discussed earlier there is no adverse effect for the pH dependent aluminum, manganese, nickel,
and zinc. The values for arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, molybdenum, and selenium are below
material damage suspect levels.
• Ground water quality data (Table 5.21) in Armand Draw is from a permanent monitoring station,
YAAL14 in upper Armand Draw. The conductiviry,(2.036 mmhos/cm) is above the suspect
Golder Associates
