July 1993 -26- 923-2515 •
sodium salt content, the very low pernreability, medium runoff, and steepness of slopes in some
localities.
The Cryoborolls-Rock outcrop complex is not irrigable due to the very steep slopes and the
Dunckley-Skyway complex, as discussed in Section 5.1.5, is not irrigable.
Water Availability and Quality: There are no data on the volume and quality of water
available for flood irrigation in Unnamed Draw, an ephemeral stream. However, this stream
has a smaller basin and a smaller volume of flow than Grassy Creek which does not have an
adequate flow for flood irrigation during the summer. There is not a sufficient volume of water
generated by the stream basin for flood irrigation and there may not be sufficient water for an
impoundment. As with Grassy Creek, it is not cost effective to build a reservoir. Additionally,
if the water quality of Unnamed Draw is similaz to the water in Grassy Creek, it may be only
mazginally suitable for growing crops.
Summary: There are no areas immediately along Unnamed Draw with flood irrigable soils.
Additionally, there does not appear to be an adequate volume of stream flow for irrigation or
even for the construction of a reservoir to impound water for irrigation. Finally, the quality of
the water for irrigation of pasture and hay grasses is probably marginal.
5.2.6 Wetlands
Wetlands occur around and upstream of Nofstger Reservoir and all along the stream channel
(Figure 2). These wetlands are similaz to those described in Section 5.1.6 for Grassy Creek.
These wetlands are not managed differently from the surrounding native rangeland. They have
not been seeded or enhanced with cultivazs and are not cropped, for hay. They are not
recognized as a special unit.
C~
Golder Associates
