.<

Coulson Excavating Company, Inc. -Stroh Gravel Pit
Exhibit S -Permanent Man-Made Structures
Results and Conclusions
The IH:1 V slope analysis yielded a Factor of Safety (FS) = 1.31. The O.SH:1 V slope
analysis yielded an FS = 1.44. Based on these results, for slopes between O.SH:1 V and
1H:1 V, a horizontal setback of approximately 50 ft, as measured from the toe of the pit
slope, will provide an adequate FS for mining operations. Input and output files from the
SB-SLOPE runs aze given in Appendix S-I. The mine plan shows a setback from the
Hillsboro Ditch of 200 ft, which given the above analysis, should be a more than
adequate distance. Similiarly, the setback of 125 ft for the Kaneb pipeline should be
adequate. At the Division's request, strain gauges will be installed on the pipeline.
FiECEAl4E®
AUG t°2 2002
Division of Minerals and DeolaOY
H:\Stroh\word\DMG\Exhibit S.doc
