' EXHIBIT G —WATER INFORMATION
' This section describes the existing water features in and nearby the proposed
' mining operation, potential impacts on water resources due to mining, and water
1 requirements for the project. Local surface water resources in the vicinity of the
project are shown on Exhibit B, Index Map and on Exhibit C, Pre-Mine and Mine
Plan Map. Wells potentially within 600 feet of the proposed mining property are
described in the accompanying "Substitute Supply Plan" submitted as part of this
Exhibit. Most of the proposed mining area of the North Mining Area is located
within the 100-year floodplain of the Arkansas River. None of the area proposed
1 for the South Borrow Pit Area exists within the 100-year floodplain.
Mining of the North Mining Area of the proposed permit will be accomplished with
' a dragline and will expose less than two surface-acres per year of groundwater.
No dewatering of the mining pit will occur„with an overall effect of no drawdown
' on the water table. Mining of the North River Pit will not directly affect either the
' surface or groundwater systems of the area. Mining of the South Borrow Pit
Area will occur above the water table.
' Surface Water
The nearest major watercourse is the Arkansas River, which bisects the permit
' area from west to east. The mine plan calls for excavation by dragline to occur
200 feet north from the river, leaving a riparian vegetative buffer strip 200-feet
wide.
' 27
