1
' EXHIBIT E— RECLAMATION PLAN
The post-mining land use will be as wildlife habitat for the North Mining Area and
as rangeland for the South Borrow Pit Area.
' Reclamation Process:
North Mining Area:
After topsoil/overburden is removed and stockpiled using a scraper, mining will
begin. Reclamation will be concurrent with mining such that rather than
excavating the mined pond to the near-vertical and backfilling with fines from the
' washing operation or overburden, the pond slopes will be left at 3:1 and 2:1, as
' per State regulations, to the bottom of the pit. The pond edges will be sloped at
3:1 beginning inward from the 20 ft. setback until the slope is 10 ft. below the
' pond water level, at which point the dragUne will excavate at 2:1 to the pond/pit
' floor.
1 Fines will be washed from the screens back into the pit will also create shallow
' pond slopes in certain areas of the pit. This will enhance the shorebird wildlife
potential with a more rapid invasion of wetland plants and shallow water areas.
There will be a large oversupply of topsoil/overburden at this area of the mining
permit. Overburden averages 2.5 ft. over a majority of the 142-acre area to be
stripped and excavated. The reclaimed pond shorelines and setback areas
' amount to only 14.5 acres. In terms of quantities, approximately 572,700 cubic
' 19
