' South Borrow Pit Area
' Excavation of sand and gravel to be used as fill material in the area south of the
Arkansas River will be accomplished through the sole use of a front-end loader to
' load trucks leaving the site. Initially, any topsoil that is remaining on the site to
tbe mined will be salvaged and stockpiled onto the pre-existing berm for
reclamation prior to excavation and removal of fill material. This area includes
approximately 12 acres of ground previously disturbed by a former owner. This
disturbed ground will be re-mined and properly sloped for reclamation. This
mining area exists entirely above the water table, so no groundwater will be
encountered by the excavation. The resource to be mined is very permeable.
' The borrow pit will be excavated to a maximum depth of approximately 15 ft.
where a layer of shale is encountered that would preclude mining to a greater
depth. Approximately 460,000 cubic yards of fill material remains at this site to
be excavated and removed.
' Aggregate Processing:
North Mining Area
' Initial aggregate processing will occur at this location when a set of vibrating
' screens is employed directly adjacent to the active mining pond to screen
aggregate prior to stockpiling for further processing. After the dragline has
' excavated and windrowed the raw aggregate, a front-end loader will load it onto
' the vibrating screens where the aggregate will be separated into greater than
inch and sizes less than this. The larger-sized product will be stockpiled for
' 13
