I
1
1
1
1
1
EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
The proposed Winkler Quarry is located within the Cherry Creek
drainage basin. The property is situated on the top of a
weathered mesa that is volcanic in origin. This operation is not
expected to impact water resources in the area in any manner.
Groundwater in the area is localized in nature and usually the
result of perched lenses of water due to the presence of volcanic
clays. There is no alluvial aquifer on this property that feeds
Cherry Creek. None of the boreholes drilled on the property
during testing showed any signs of groundwater.
The operation will not impound surface or groundwater for storage
or beneficial use purposes. Any impoundment or diversion caused
would be incidental to mining or associated with erosion control
practices on site. Any impoundment would be temporary and minor
in nature, and would cause no detrimental effect to area surface
or groundwater. There will be no impact to water rights.
Surface drainage from the property feeds several minor
tributaries of Cherry Creek. These tributaries are all ephemeral
in nature. The proposed mining plan will not disturb existing
waterways, nor will it increase or decrease surface runoff. An
erosion control plan will be implemented to reduce sediment
discharge from the property to these tributaries. This plan will
include berming of disturbed areas to allow sediment to settle
out during storms, keeping stockpiles out of waterways, and
reseeding reclaimed areas as soon as practicable. Other erosion
control measures will be implemented as indicated in the Exhibit
E, Reclamation Plan.
' There will be a haul road crossing of Willow Creek approximately
one -half mile east of Ridge Road. The Army Corps of Engineers
has been contacted regarding this crossing and has determined
t that the proposed work is authorized by a Nationwide Permit. The
Army Corps' correspondence is attached with these Exhibit G
materials. The crossing has been designed to convey up to 5-
' year storm event peak flows with culverts. Creek flows greater
than the 5 -year storm event peak are designed to overtop the road
as a low -water crossing.
F'
Li
1
' G -1
