Disturbance
In order to gain an understanding of the extent of the mining operation, it is helpful to know the
acres disturbed by different aspects of the mining operation. Each aspect is listed in the
following table with associated disturbed area. The table illustrates a point in time where the
mining disturbance will be at its maximum, which occurs during the mining in Phase 2. The
mining disturbance will be at its greatest when Phase 1 has been mined out and during Phase 2.
Although reclamation along the exterior walls of Phase 1 will be in progess, the interior wall
from Phases 1 to 2 will be at its greatest length. The portable processing plant and associated
product stockpiles for this will be in place at the east end of the site.

As ect
Mining Operation Disturbed Area
(Acres)
A Processing Area, Product Stockpiles 2.75
B Active mining face with t/2H:1 V slope, 600 feet x 30 feet 0.4
C Interior wall with 1/2H:1 V slope, 400 feet x 30 feet 0.3
D Exterior wall being backfilled and graded to 3H:1 V side slopes,
600 feet x 75 feet
1.1
E Top of slope and side slope above reservoir water level to be
seeded, 600 feet x 40 feet
0.6
F Dewatering trenches, 3000 feet x 5 feet 0.3
G Settling basins 0.5
H Road (to remain following reclamation) 2.3
I Topsoil and overburden stockpiles 0.5
J Employee facilities 0.5
TOTAL DISTURBED AREA 9.25
25'"Avenue Sile
DMG 111 Perntit
Page 7
