•
MINING PLAN
The applicant proposes to excavate the gravel lying in the 9.9 Acre
tract previoulsy described. The majority of the gravel extracted will
be used as "pit-run" material and excavated and loaded as required.
A portable crusher and screening unit will be utilized intermittently
during the mining to provide quantities of crushed, washed and graded
gravel to be stockpiled on the site to fill the requests for selected
material . While the sales of gravel will be to anyone in the construc-
tion materials and construction fields , it is anticipated that the op-
erator will also use the gravel for his own construction business.
Presently, the site is being used as pasture land with natural grasses
in good condition. The site is located in the flood plain and is very
flat. The gravel pit operation will have very little effect on drain-
age in the area . The major concern will , those associated with oper-
ating within a flood plain.
The soils report indicates a 10 to 14 foot layer of sand and gravel
lying under 1 foot of top-soil and 2 to 5 feet of silty clay. Allowing
a 50-foot set-back from all boundary lines , it is estimated that the
site will yield approximately 56,000 cubic yards of over-burden and
169,300 cubic yards (320,000 Tons ) of sand and gravel .
The site plan will be to located the buildings and the kpiles to-
ward the Westerly end of the site near the access road, vv The mining op-
eration will commence at the Easterly end of the site and work progress-
ively toward the West. The procedure will be to strip the top-soil in
berm fashion in the 50-foot perimeter area. The mining area will then
be de-watBred by a peripheral trench, collection and pumping system.
i
D1
