• 2.05.4 (2) RECLAMATION TIMETABLE
Coors Energy Company has followed through with its planned discontinuation of
coal mining operations at the Keenesburg Mine and the progression of the site into
an ash disposal facility. At this time, miscellaneous areas such as the Evaporation
pond at the north end of the permit boundary, access roads to "A" Pit, portions of
east "A" Pit, and the tipple facility are all in various stages of being reclaimed.
CEC continues to work towards total reclamation of all areas not related to ash
disposal. CEC would like to keep its options open to consider a Permit Revision,
under rule 4.16.3, Alternative Land Use as a Disposal Facility.
At the present annual ash disposal rates, about 3 acres per year are back filled and
graded. Placement of topsand on such small areas often restricts movement of
heavy equipment. CEC anticipates that when 10-20 acres are available for
topsanding, fertilizing and revegetation, it will be done. CEC estimates that this
will only happen 2-3 times during each permit renewal period. The largest acreage
to be seeded will be in the last year of ash disposal which is now estimated to be
2029, when the stockpile and facility areas will be ready for final reclamation.
CEC has been granted a variance on contemporaneous reclamation for both "A"
and "B" Pits to 3/99. These variances will have to be extended depending on rates
of ash disposal and volumes available for ash disposal.
• The final reclamation will be to the ponds, the dugout, and the drainage ditches.
These will be filled, graded, fertilized, and revegetated, as appropriate, when all
other reclamation is completed.

117 5/96
