Box 518 - -
5omerset, Colorado 81434
Dear Craig:
We have revirwed the laboratory data for Monitor Well AA-1 and have
reached the following conclusions. The erotic nature of the
conductivity and the TDS coupled with the related changes in calcium,
sodium, and sulfate indicate that representative ground water samples
are probably not being taken. This can result from one or mare
reasons which include the following:
• Well is silted in and should be redeveloped
• Sample taken without removing two (2) casing volumes from
the well and allowing well to r•e-charge prior to sampling
e Surface water and sediment from shale outcrops have
contaminated the well
Given one or more of these problems we suggest the following steps be
taken:
e Redevelop the well by pumping and flushing silt and sediment
from the casing to increase flow to well and allow
collection of representative-ground water sample
a Pump well until field conductivity readings stabilize and
then sample
e Bail well at sampling to evacuate two (2) casing volumes or
until conductivity stabilizes before sampling
~ Take extra care not to contaminate sample with silt and
sediment from well bottom
~~ ,. - ~t~,:..
