<br /> <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board <br />112 Reclamation Permit <br />Clay Liner and Slurry Wall Specifications for Construction <br />Lohmann Sand and Gravel Mine <br />Weld County, Colorado ~ ~~ <br />l <br />1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION `~ 'w~ ly'" ~b1 <br />~ b, `a? <br />Construction of the fill areas, as shown on the drawings and as specified herein, have G~~ <br />been prepared in accordance with the Department of Minerals and Geology (DMG) <br />Guide to Specification Preparation for Slurry Walls and Clay Liners as a Component of a <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Permit. <br />The Applicant, L.G. Everist, Inc., has applied fora 112 Reclamation Permit to mine sand <br />and gravel from the subject site, which includes parts of two landowners' properties, <br />located in unincorporated Weld County. Everist is permitting approximately 82 acres of <br />the subject properties. The Lohmann property consists of 65 acres and is located in the <br />East '/z of the Northwest '/. of Section 6, Township 3 North, Range 67 West of the 6'" <br />P.M. in Weld County. The French property consists of 17 acres and is located in parts of <br />the Northwest Y, of the Northeast '/, of Section 6, Township 3 North, Range 67 West of <br />the 6th P.M. in Weld County, Colorado. (See Exhibit B -Index Map.) Both properties are <br />on the south side of Weld County Road 26, approximately one-quarter mile east of Weld <br />County Road 13 and are about two and one-quarter miles east of Interstate 25. County <br />Road 26 marks the northern border of the properties and the Last Chance Ditch <br />establishes the southern boundary. <br />The end use of the site after reclamation will primarily be for water storage. Further, <br />reclamation for residential development is anticipated for areas where backfill and/or <br />overburden are used to restore existing grades. <br />As mining is completed in the 41-acre western portion of the site (Area B, see Exhibit C- <br />3), the mined area will be lined with compacted clay, in accordance with DMG's <br />guidelines, to ensure stability and minimize seepage. The thirteen acres making up the <br />eastern portion of the mined area (Area C, see Exhibit C-3) will utilize slurry walls and <br />take advantage of underlying shale to isolate the constructed water storage reservoir <br />
