3.8 Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) Plan
In order to achieve competent construction of the clay liner fill and embankments, the fill
material will be field and laboratory tested for moisture and dry density requirements as
described in this document. Fill material wiN be tested for moisture content requirements
every 500 cubic yards on embankment samples, as determined by the Engineer.
Samples taken from the embankment will be obtained every 5,000 cubic yards and
tested for appropriate moisture~ensity relationships, determined by the Standard
Proctor test as described in ASTM D-698. Material that does not meet the moisture and
dry density requirements will be rewortced until these requirements are obtained. The
test samples will be reported to the Engineer.
A quality assurance firm, chosen by the Applicant, will monitor the CQA Plan for this
project site. The CQA monitor will review material placement and document
composition, as required by the specifications for construction of the Reclamation Plan.
The CQA monitor will document and report sample test results to the Engineer.
SOIL LINER TESTING FREQUENCY
VOLUME PER TEST'
Test and ASTM Designation Soil Liner Fill (cy)
Compaction (ASTM D-698) 5,000
Particle Size (ASTM D-422) 5,000
Atterberg Limit (ASTM D-4318) 5,000
Moisture Content (ASTM D-2216) 500
Permeability (ASTM D-5084/2434) 15,000
Nuclear Densi 500
1.
