Stormwater Management Plan -Golden Wonder Mine (DRMS Mine Permit No.M-1978-091) The following Stormwater management plan (SWMP) follows the current State of Colorado General Permit Application and Stormwater Management Plan Guidance for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Metal Mining (and some Coal Mining) with S WMP requirements outlined within Appendix B provided at http://www.cdphe.state.co.us/wq/PennitsUnit/Stormwater/SWMetalPermi~df. All recommended components of the guidance are provided by Section within this document. This SWMP is a plan to reduce or eliminate pollution and/or sedimentation which might occur during precipitation runoff brought about by rapidly melting snows or thunderstorm activity. The Golden Wonder Mine (the mine) is located about 2.5 miles southeast of Lake City, Hinsdale County, Colorado in the NE Y4 of the NE Ya Section 10, and NW '/4 of the NW '/< of Section 11, Township 43 North, Range 4 West. The mine can be reached by traveling south from Lake City on Colorado Highway 149 to Vicker's Ranch where a person turns east on a private road through the ranch and up the hill past the bridge across the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. Proceed straight ahead up the road between various houses to a gate (that is often locked) and up the canyon of a drainage just north of Park Creek. The road crosses into the Park Creek drainage and forks north of a large pond. Taking the right fork across the Park Creek valley through a series of switchbacks with bring you to another fork where the right road will proceed to both levels of the Golden Wonder. At the saddle, the road branches again with the right fork proceeding to Level 6 and the left to Level 3. 1. Description of Mining Activities The Golden Wonder mine is an underground gold ore mining operation. The mine is owned by LKA International Inc., and currently operated by Au Mining (Point of Contact: Lance Barker [970]-944-0155). However, environmental permit issues and compliance are being addressed by Gault Group Inc. of Cortez, CO (Point of Contact: Karmen King [970]-565-0278). The Golden Wonder mine is located on a combination of patented and unpatented claims. The unpatented claims are on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management. The mine has held an active mine permit with the Colorado Division of Reclamation and Mine Safety since 1978. Mining activity has occurred since 1978 under operation by several leasors and ownerships. The permitted area of the mine is less than 10 acres (with the combined total of both the Level 3 and Level 6 areas). Within this permitted area, the current mining activities include ore recovery from several underground levels accessible from the Level 6 portal. The operation is relatively small
