Golden Wonder Mine
DBMS Mine Permit No M-1978-091
Storm Water Management Plan
needed, GGI is responsible for identifying the appropriate management
practice and submitting ail necessary information for this S WMP.
c. Preventive Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is achieved with the continuous oversight of mine
activities to assure environmental compliance. GGI personnel have been
delegated the responsibility for these activities and will take an active role with
mine activities to assure environmental protection. Apart of the oversight
responsibilities will be to review the preventative maintenance requirements for
in-place management practices that control stormwater. Any management
practice that begins to show sign of erosion or failure will be actively maintained
(e.g, the perimeter pad berm, or toe of waste rock slope channel). The integrity of
these features will be constantly monitored (at least four visits per year) as part of
the ongoing routine monitoring as required by the mine reclamation permit.
Maintenance of pollution release prevention measures will occur as follows:
• Mine machinery and vehicles will be maintained in good operational order in
order to prevent fuel leaks.
• The use of solvents and lubricants will be confined to the workshop where
containment of any incidental spills can be accomplished.
• Potential ARD generated from the waste rock will be controlled with the use
ofpad-related stormwater BMPs
• Potential stormwater sediment will be prevented with the constant
maintenance and upkeep of the access road and pad stormwater management
practices
d. Good Housekeeping
Good housekeeping measures are a necessity for the orderly and safe activities at
the mine. A temporary building has been established for worker convenience,
changing room, break room, manuals and other site documentation, while a
second building (partially open) has been set aside as a work area for maintenance
activities. Tools, storage, lubricants/degreasing solvents etc. are all appropriately
stored at this building. Other materials required for mining are stored out and
away from the working area of the pad. Similarly, the crusher exists along the
perimeter of the pad to allow for ease of ore transfer.
Housekeeping is a routine component of the mining schedule. Daily routines
require that all refuse be discarded and transported off the mine. GGI personnel
10
