s
`I
Mr. Scott Johnson -2- September 8, 1981
4. What is the total approximate thickness of the gravel deposit (is
this a relic terra•~e deposit?) and the nature of the stratum immediately
beneath the material to be mined (Rules 2.I2(9}(f)(i))?
S. What is the approximate depth to the water table?
Exhibit E - Reclaration Plan
I. We recommend re visinq the seed mixture to the following:
w
i
3L
Species
Crested Wheatbra:ss
R USSi all Wildrye
Pubescent Wheatgrass
Blue Grama
Western Wheatgrass
Yellow Sweetclever 1 2
I4 lbs. 28 lbs.
2. Seed during late summer (see SCS recommendations).
LBS Pure Live Seed/Acre
Drilled Broadcast
3 G
3 6
2 4
1 Z
4 8
3. Disc topsoil and subsoil to a depth of 6" to help provide for soil
binding and root penetration.
4. The mulch requirements recommended by the SCS are adequate. However,
the mulch should be mechanically crimped into the soil to be effective.
5. I suggest you change your goal of reclamation from wildlife to range-
land, as the area and reclamation will probably be most suited for the
latter use.
6. Because this is a very arid site, and vegetation wi1I be difficult to
establish, how about committing to periodic watering or some type of
irrigation?
h~~
r £ h,
~~~ , ~
,.y vwy
,~
'.A tia .ry,.
~s~
n'.
7. Wi1I fertilization be required for this site?
Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
You did not submit Exhibit L. Therefore, 7 propose the costs be set at
51,200/acre or 529,000 for the ZO acres. If you wish to submit an itemized
List of such costs (grading, seeding, etc.) showing how much it would cost
to contrac+= out such efforts, that will also be acceptable. In any event,
the bond figure to be recommended to the Board will be set at one of these
two sums. Enclosed is a corporate surety bond form for your convenience.
