Blue Bunchgrass -Agropyron spicatum 4
Sandburg bluegrass - Poa sandburgii 4
This seed mixture will be a minimum of 90 percent pure live seed and
applied at the rate of 40 pounds per acre.
6. The pad azeas will be fertilized (30-0-0, minimum NPK), seeded with the
approved seed mix, and mulched (certified weed-free straw).
7. The access roads will be restored as closely as possible to the approximate
original contour, re-seeded, fertilized, and mulched as above. A temporary
seed mix as approved by the USFS may be used to accommodate an
intermediate seeding to help prevent erosion or sedimentation and noxious
weed infestation on road cuts and fills.
8. The drill pads and access roads reclamation procedure outlined above will
apply only to those azeas newly disturbed for this proposed project. Existing
roads will be left in a condition equal to or better than that observed on
Mountain Coal Company's entry into the azea or decommissioned to the
satisfaction of the USFS representative.
9. Any coal-recovered incidental to this project will be in the form of cuttings or
core and would either be taken back to the mine site or disposed of in the mud
pits.
10. MCC will perform noxious weed eradication as needed on all roads and drill
pads.
DRILL HOLE PLUGGING METHODS:
The hole plugging method described in 43 CFR II 3484.1(a) or Colorado Division
of Minerals and Geology (CDMG) Rules and Regulations at 4.07.3, states that each open
hole will be plugged with cement from bottom to 50 feet above the uppermost thick coal
seam and from 50 feet below to 50 feet above any aquifers encountered in the hole. The
remainder of the hole is to be filled with an approved completion mud, gel, cuttings, or
cement to within 5 feet of the surface. A 5-foot cement surface plug would be set, and an
appropriately labeled monument marker to be cemented into the surface plug. Surface
casing is to be cut off at or below the level of the soil surface.
However, all of the proposed MD W's will be steel-cased and cemented in-place
effectively sealing the space between the outside annulus of the well and the rock strata.
Where the entire depth of the well is steel-cased alternative-plugging techniques may be
employed, after review with the regulatory agencies. MCC proposes a hole plugging
method that has met prior approval of USFS and CDMG. The holes utilized on the 2000
14
