1 6.In section d), specify if the stockpile/processing area was stripped of topsoil prior to
conducting processing and stockpiling operations. If so, indicate where the topsoil is
stockpiled and how much is available for reclamation of this area. If it was not stripped,
indicate what measures will be taken to prepare the compacted soils for revegetation. Be
aware that all surface gravel from the processing and stockpile operations must be removed
prior to initiating revegetation efforts. The NRCS may be able to provide recommendations for
preparing any compacted soils.
Exhibit E -Maas
17.On the mine plan map, it illustrates that the fence on the east side of the pit will be mined
through. Please indicate if it will be moved prior to mining this area, or if it will be replaced, in
its current location, after mining is completed.
18.On the mine plan map, please indicate where the topsoil and overburden, from the area
remaining to be mined, will be stockpiled.
19.On the reclamation plan map, be sure to show which areas will not be disturbed and will not
require revegetation. Also state the average thickness of topsoil and overburden that will be
replaced on the site, and indicate where it will be replaced.
20.On the reclamation plan map, please indicate the direction of drainage from the areas outside
the excavation area. Be sure that all stormwater runoff is either directed to the pit, or is
treated to minimize off-site impacts from erosion and sedimentation, until the vegetation is
established.
21 .For both maps, be sure that each is signed by the preparer, has a scale, indicates the name of
the applicant and the file number, and is dated as required.
Exhibit F -Other Permits and Licenses
22.You will need to contact the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regarding
the possible need for a stormwater permit, a discharge permit, and an air emissions permit.
The Division of Water Resources should be contacted regarding possible need for well permits
and dam construction permits.
Be sure to submit your proof of publication and proof of notification to adjacent landowners, as
soon as possible.
The reclamation band amount will be calculated upon receipt of your responses.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Durango Field Office, 484 Turner Drive, Building F, Suite 101, Durango, CO 81301, phone no.
970-247-5062.
Since
Steve S.
